Air Intelligence

Air Intelligence is solar powered compute capacity, rented by the rack. Every rack carries its own solar and sits in a building that uses its heat. There is no data centre to build and no cooling to pay for.

What You Rent

  1. 1
Capacity, Not Hardware. Terraform owns, installs and runs the racks. You rent capacity on them and we keep them fed, cooled and online.
  2. 2
A Rack at a Time. The standard rack is 8 graphics processors, 1,128 gigabytes of memory and 4.8 kilowatts, in a locked water-jacketed steel enclosure. Capacity grows a rack at a time, in as many buildings as it takes.
  3. 3
Cooled by the Building. Water takes the heat off the processors at 80 degrees Celsius and the building uses it for its rooms, its hot water, its spa or its pool. Cooling costs the rack nothing because the heat is wanted.
  4. 4
Powered Where It Sits. Each unit carries 3.5 kilowatts of solar that Terraform fits and owns, with mains power behind it. The power is made at the point of use, so there is no substation to wait for, and the mains it does draw is the power the building would have spent on hot water and heating.

A Data Centre Without the Data Centre

A conventional site spends most of its capital before a single processor runs: the shell, the chillers, the switchgear and the grid connection. Air Intelligence spends none of it. The building is already built, the cooling is a pipe to somewhere the heat is useful, and the power arrives on the roof.

No shell

Buildings That Exist

Racks go into homes, offices, factories and the places Terraform develops, one or many to a building.

No chiller

Heat Is the Product

Water carries the heat out at 80 degrees and the host building uses it, so there is no chiller, no cooling tower and no water consumed.

No queue

Power at the Point of Use

3.5 kilowatts of solar on each unit, and the mains behind it is the power the building would have spent on hot water and heating.

Distributed

One Data Centre, Many Buildings

The racks are spread across homes, offices and factories and run as one fleet, so the capacity is a data centre with no site of its own.

No idle plant

Capacity as It Is Needed

Racks are added one at a time where the heat has somewhere to go, so capacity follows demand instead of leading it by years.

One Fleet, Many Streets

The fleet grows one house at a time. Each unit sits outside a house and puts its heat into that house, and all of them run together as a single data centre with no site, no cooling tower and no land bought for it.

One Kilowatt Hour, Two Jobs

A conventional site buys power to compute and then buys more power to throw the heat away. The household it sits near buys power again to heat its water and warm its rooms. Air Intelligence does both with the same kilowatt hour: the sun supplies part of it, the rack turns the rest into compute and then into the heat the building was going to pay for anyway.

Where the Power Goes

  • Sunlight first
3.5 kilowatts of solar on every unit, direct current, fitted and owned by Terraform. It feeds the rack directly.
  • Then the power the building was going to buy
Hot water and heating are most of a household's energy. The rack draws that power instead, and gives it back as 42,048 kilowatt hours of heat a year.
  • Nothing spent on cooling
No chiller, no cooling tower, no fans running to move heat into the sky. The heat has somewhere to go, so the energy that would have moved it is never spent.
  • The host stops buying heat
Heating, cooling and hot water cost the host nothing to run, which is what makes a building want a rack in it.

How a Rack Earns Twice

The same 4.8 kilowatts is sold twice over: once as compute to the customer who rents it, and once as heat to the building that hosts it. That is why the capacity can be priced against sites that must pay to throw their heat away.

Rent Capacity

Tell us what you need to run and how much of it. We will come back with what we can place, where, and when it can be running.

  • Capacity is quoted by the rack of 8 graphics processors.
  • Terraform installs, runs and replaces the hardware.
  • Sites are chosen where the heat has a use all year.
