Carbon Capture
Take carbon dioxide straight out of the air on sunlight. The Carbon Capture Cell draws air through on direct current from the array and holds the carbon dioxide, and the Calcining Kiln releases it as a pure stream, ready to sell or turn into fuel.
How It Works
- 1Fans Draw In the Air
Direct current fans, wired straight to the solar array, draw air through the Cell from sunrise to sunset. - 2The Cell Holds the Carbon
The Cell holds the carbon dioxide and lets the rest of the air go. - 3Sunlight Releases It
The Calcining Kiln drives the carbon dioxide off on solar power as a pure stream. - 4The Cell Goes Round Again
The Cell comes back ready for the next pass, so it captures carbon dioxide again and again.

Two Cells and the Sun
Capture
Carbon Capture Cell
Holds the fans. Air passes through the Cell, and the carbon dioxide stays behind.
Release
Calcining Kiln, 1,000 °C
Drives the captured carbon dioxide off on solar electricity, collects it as a pure stream and sends the Cell round again.
Power
Sunlight
Direct current from the array runs the fans and the kiln from sunrise to sunset, with no fuel to buy and no grid bill.
Sell It or Make Fuel
Sell the carbon dioxide as an industrial gas at $370 a tonne, against a conventional price of $400 to $600. Or add hydrogen from the Water Electrolyser and the Catalytic Fuel Reactor turns it into pipeline methane and methanol.
What It Uses
- Air
Ambient air, moved by fans that run on the array - Sunlight
Direct current from the array, from sunrise to sunset
